The 60/40 Problem
Most owners already use AI in their own life. They just refuse to bring it into the firm. That gap is the whole opportunity.
When I look at the firm owners I work with, they split into two groups on AI, and the split is roughly sixty-forty. Talk to them the same way and you lose both.
01Two groups, two starting points
The sixty percent are AI-literate in their personal life. They use the consumer tools. Some have even built little things on a weekend. But inside their firm they are completely abstinent, because the personal stakes are low and the firm stakes feel enormous.
The forty percent are somewhere else entirely. Their question is “what even is AI, help me modernize.” They are not resisting. They just do not have a foothold.
The capability was never the blocker. The fear was.

02Two coaching paths, one mindset
The sixty percent do not need a demo of what AI can do. They have seen it. They need the firm-specific safety conversation: governance, ethics, where their data goes, what the bar expects. Give them that and they move fast.
The forty percent need the on-ramp. Concrete, low-stakes, here is one useful thing and how it connects to what you already pay for.
- Sixty percent: fluent at home, frozen at the firm
- Forty percent: willing, but no foothold yet
- Meet the first group with safety
- Meet the second group with an on-ramp
The thing that moves both groups is not a better feature. It is a safe place to ask the question they were too embarrassed to ask.
03The safe space is the product
I have watched owners go from beaten-down and skeptical at the start of a session to genuinely stoked by the end, just because for once they could ask what they were actually wondering without feeling exposed.
That is why I am starting to bring this conversation earlier. The technology is ready. The people are the variable.
Default / One-Size Pitch

- Capability demo for the fearful
- On-ramp withheld from beginners
- Both groups stay stuck
Designed / Two Paths

- On-ramp for the newcomers
- Questions asked without shame
